pretty cool. open practices and scrimmage vs bridgeport. I guess with Brooklyn deal now down, Wang turning more pro fans.

Now they should do Half Priced Tickets all season and fill the barn.

Could you imagine if bridgeport beats the Isles in Scrimmage. put DP in net for isles and that is quite possible. That's actually why the left Nino, Donovan and Ness in bridgeport. Should be fun game.

Im excited to see Puck drop.

Excerpt from Arthur Staple's article in Newsday...Now what Garth...

There's a little frustration brewing in the locker room about Visnovsky's refusal to report, which his agent says does not stem from a problem with the Islanders or Long Island.

"It bothers us, because the guys on this team love it here and guys who get traded or sign here end up loving it too," Matt Martin said. "This is just hanging around the team when we need to be totally focused and ready for a quick start to the season."

Good on Matt Martin. Truth be told, the Islanders defense has been very shaky for years now. Visnovsky fills two giant holes, a defensemen that's actually decent in his own end and another offensive threat. Our power play could be outstanding with him.

I'm all for the screw you argument but the isles traded a #2pick and can't afford to just let him walk for nothing. I expect the isles to play hardball and they should. The players will get over it if he works hard at practice.

I disagree. You don't get over that. This whole thing shows his character or lack there of. The lockeroom doesn't need that kind of garbage. He's a distraction. Look elsewhere......he's not that great. There's gotta be another dman who's cap hit is double the actual salary......cause that's really why they brought him in.

Yes you do. They are professionals. They'll get over it. If Visnovsky plays with streit, then every other defensemen fits in the holes they belong. Hamonic can play with McDonald, carkner with martinek. If he doesn't play, then you have a third pairing defensemen at best in martinek playing top pairing minutes. We tried that last year with Jurcina and staios and look what happened. It was a nightmare.
Also then throw in a rookie playing with carkner who was a healthy scratch about 40 times last year and we are a nightmare back there with a 37 year old #1 goalie and a goalie who shouldn't be playing on a dek hockey team. Visnovsky is an absolute key to this roster if they have any shot and competing for a playoff spot which is a long shot with him

Jurcina, staios and streit were a -80 combined. And streit had 47 points.

It was . Hamonic and McDonald were the only good pairing the isles had. Hamonic was +6 on a team that was about -60 5 on 5

I agree with Martin's take on this. But you can't just trade Visnovsky away. You can't do it. I don't care what type of "distraction" he is. You can't reward Visnovsky by giving him exactly what he wants, which is to not play here. If they do, the isles will be getting this type of nonsense from veterans forever.

In all fairness, I don't know how much affect the visnovsky "distraction" will cause. It's not as if the team is on the precipice of a cup run. It's not like its Crosby holding out. As much as it sucks, the isles must play hardball here and guys like Martin know it and likely respect that.

When the Islanders made the trade in June, TSN thought that if the Islanders were not in playoff contention they could send Streit and Visnovski to playoff teams looking for puck carrying defensemen for high picks. Then Snow could try to move the picks either into a top place in the draft or get NHL quality players. I guess Visnovski put a wrench in that plan.

Looks like the KHL only plays 54 games... then playoffs.

Only about 12 games left for them.

Maybe you should remind Visnovsky that he's a professional, and he should act like one. We can agree to disagree, but if Martin said what he said in the newspaper, I can only imagine whats really said. That was as polite a "phuck you" i've ever heard.
